The 教务长办公室 serves the Barnard faculty and supports their excellence in scholarship, 教学, 服务, 和治理. As the College’s chief academic office, the 教务长 and 学院院长 ensures that the liberal arts education offered to Barnard undergraduates meets the highest standards of quality.
The Office is responsible for all instructional programs, 学术事务, and academic policies of the College; oversees forty academic departments and programs, the Barnard 图书馆 and Academic Information 服务 (BLAIS), the Barnard Center for 研究 on Women (BCRW), the Athena Center for Leadership Studies, 设计, 数字人文, 经验推理, 斯劳爱特媒体, and Vagelos Computational Science centers, 移动实验室, and Center for Engaged Pedagogy; recommends to the Barnard President all nominations for appointment to the faculty; and develops and implements the academic budget. In addition, the 教务长 is the academic liaison with 哥伦比亚大学.
